How should I compare RF shielding quotes?
Give each bidder the same drawings, project location, room requirements and acceptance criteria. Compare the included doors, windows, penetrations, filters, installation, testing and documentation. Identify exclusions and trade responsibilities before comparing the totals; the lowest number may cover a different scope.
Does an MRI room need both RF and magnetic shielding?
RF shielding and magnetic shielding solve different problems. RF shielding controls radio-frequency interference; magnetic shielding addresses magnetic-field conditions. Requirements depend on the MRI system and site, so confirm both with the scanner manufacturer and the project’s design team rather than assuming an RF enclosure covers every requirement.[2]
What testing should a shielding proposal include?
Ask for the test method, frequencies, measurement locations, acceptance criteria, timing and final report to be specified in writing.
